We Are Our Own Masterpiece

While seemingly life’s voyage is outside ourselves, the truth is the journey is really within.  All the relationships and situations we encounter in our lives are there so we can experience ourselves in different lights.

All the comforting, well being and difficulties reside within ourselves.  It is only by conquering our fears and prejudices that we can find tranquility.  It is only by accepting and embracing ourselves that we can find true love.

Most of us spend a lifetime chasing people and fortune thinking they will bring us happiness but the truth is until we have befriended ourselves we can’t truly appreciate anything or anybody.

The time will come

when, with elation

you will greet yourself arriving

at your own door, in your own mirror

and each will smile at the others welcome, and say, sit here. Eat

You will love again the stranger who was yourself.

Give wine. Give bread. Give back your heart

to itself, to the stranger who has loved you all your life, whom you ignored

for another, who knows you by heart.

Take down the love letters from the bookshelf, the photographs, the desperate

peel your own image from the mirror.

Sit. Feast on your life

“When we know who we are there is no shame.” This may be the golden mantra I can chant from my gut.
